Yorkville Resident Ariel Garcia Helps Raise Funds for K-9s for Warriors

Ariel Garcia of Yorkville was among the Lewis University Applied Sociology students that teamed up with the Lewis University Psychology Club to raise $1,380 for K-9s for Warriors. The organization provides and trains companion or service animals to help veterans returning to civilian life cope with combat related issues, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The primary fundraising event was a 5K community walk/run on the Lewis University Romeoville campus. The 5K event attracted more than 65 participants from the area. Applied Sociology Students also raised funds by soliciting private and corporate donations.

Applied Sociology students participating in the fundraising project included: Robert Czyszczon, Ariel Garcia, Aaron Hart, Jennifer Lagowski, Maria Parducci, Adam Sadowski and Sophia Tsaras.
