Meghan Gilbert of Plainfield Finishes With Top 10 Teams at Lewis University's Fantastic Flyer Invitational

2012 Dec 11

The Lewis University Mock Trial team recently hosted the Fantastic Flyer Invitational on the Lewis University Romeoville campus. "This was one of the tightest scoring Flyer tournaments in history," commented Dr. James Houlihan, Lewis University Mock Trial head coach. Lewis University teams took fourth and seventh place, while Northwestern University took first and third. Defending champions, Loyola University finished second, all within one and a half ballots of each other.

Participating schools included: Carthage College, Columbia College, Mo., Illinois State University, Lake Forest College, Lewis University, Loras College, Loyola University, Northwestern University, Ohio Northern, University of Illinois-Chicago, U.W. Milwaukee, U.W. Platteville and University of St. Francis.

Three players from the Lewis University team that finished seventh won individual awards. Veteran Tiffany Wasilewski and newcomers Faizan Tanvir and Amber Milliron each received Outstanding Witness awards. Natosha Burton missed Outstanding Attorney honors by one point. The other Lewis University team showed a strong team effort with a fourth place team finish, however their individual scores were not high enough to secure individual awards.
