Matteson resident Michael Harris prepares for the workforce

2014 Feb 20

Michael Harris was one of the 42 students that discovered how leadership skills can be the “X” Factor during the Lewis University Student Governing Board Annual Spring Leadership Retreat.

The one-day high energy leadership workshop was a conference boasting keynote speakers and breakout sessions that highlighted skill development that students could take well beyond the classroom. The title of the conference was “The ‘X’ Factor... Developing Your Professional Edge,” and hosted topics such as how to build an impactful online profile, business etiquette, ethical decision making, event planning, self-awareness of leadership, networking and the difference between management & leadership.

The co-curricular program is just one example of the different opportunities that Lewis University provides for students outside the classroom. By attending the workshop, students received valuable life-skill training, resume building as well as digital badges highlighting their participation that they can include on their online professional profile. The conference was free to all full-time Lewis University students and was held on the main campus in Romeoville.
