Lisa Janes of Tinley Park continues research with Pall Corp. on nanoparticle filtration technology

2015 Jan 23

Lewis University is continuing its research studies with Pall Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced filtration and purification systems. This research focuses on gaining mechanistic understanding around the synergy between nanoparticle dispersions and polymeric filtration media. The work will provide key information with respect to filter performance that will closely mimic the real-world customer applications, which can aid in the development of next generation filtration systems.

Tinley Park resident Lisa Janes is one of the Lewis University undergraduates working on the research. The three students include Lisa Janes, Alyssa Szponder, Julianne Truffa, and research mentor Dr. Jason Keleher, associate professor and chair of chemistry, have collaborated with Pall Corp. Technology Director Dr. Ahamad Khan on studying how nanoparticles interact with CMP filtration systems by detecting changes in particle size and surface energy.

"Working with Pall creates the opportunity to explore advanced technologies that can be applied to innovative solutions for the filtration industry," said Truffa. "The exciting part is knowing that we are uncovering solutions to further the understanding of such complex systems."

Janes added, "Being able to interact with the research and business teams at Pall Corporation have improved my ability to use the scientific method to solve challenging and industry relevant problems."

Pall Corporation is a filtration, separation and purification leader providing solutions to meet the critical fluid management needs of customers across the broad spectrum of life sciences and industry.
