Jeromy Rech of Saint John was inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma honor society

The Gamma Chi Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma recently inducted Saint John resident Jeromy Rech among other students and faculty during its 50th Annual Induction Ceremony in the Sancta Alberta Chapel at Lewis University.

Dr. James Burke, associate professor of theology, welcomed everyone to the ceremony, and Brother James Gaffney, FSC, president of Lewis University, provided the opening remarks and invocation.

To be inducted, students must have completed at least 50 percent of the credit requirements for their baccalaureate degrees with a distinction of performance, which, if continued, would make them eligible for graduation cum laude. Junior and senior students must have at least a 3.5 GPA, as well as received three DES faculty nominations in order to be nominated for membership to the Gamma Chi Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma.

New student initiates include Bianca Apato, Alexis Brown, Erin Cox, Justina Doll, Taylor Foytik, Andrew Gestautas, Taha Ghouleh, Lisa Janes, Matthew Jemilo, Taylor Ketelaar, Maggie Majcher, Sara Mazan, Austin McCartney, Elizabeth Michener, Sarah Parker, Christopher Pelech, Matthew Pudelek, Jeromy Rech, Nicole Reidy, Connor Strawn, Penelope Strid, Julianne Truffa, Jill Wetmore, Alexandria Yahl, Nicole Yuede and Megan Zeugner.

New faculty members include Dr. Dennis Cremin, professor of history, Dr. Joyce Hayward, professor of education, Erica Kwiatkowski-Egizio, assistant professor of elementary education, and Dr. Lauren Rentfro, assistant professor of secondary education.

Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national scholastic honor society for students, faculty and alumni of colleges and universities with a Catholic tradition. It was founded in 1939 to recognize academic accomplishments, to foster scholarly activities, and to encourage a sense of intellectual community among its members.

Burke and Dr. Laurette Liesen, professor and chair of Political Science are moderators of the group.
