Jeff Flanigan Awarded a $4,000 Scholarship From the Chicago Area Business Aviation Association

Jeff Flanigan of Sycamore, Ill. and eight other Lewis University aviation students were recently awarded almost $50,0000 in scholarships from the Chicago Area Business Aviation Association. Lewis University students received nine out of 12 scholarships, an increase from the previous year, offered by CABAA, an organization of aviation business professionals.

Alumni Brian Zankowski of Elburn, Ill., received the Flight Safety Professional Flight Award. The $18,000 scholarship will financially assist him in his extensive training at Flight Safety International, such as flight time in a simulator and ground school training. Zankowski graduated from Lewis University in 2010 with his Bachelor of Science in aviation flight management and economics. Zankowski continues to work on his master’s degree in finance through the university. In addition to being a flight instructor at Lewis University, he works for Blatti Aviation. Zankowski has over 1,950 hours of total time.

Senior Michael Indelli of Chicago, Ill., received the Ken Johnson Memorial ATC Scholarship. The scholarship is for $4,000.

Students Michael Ban of Naperville, Ill, Jeff Flanigan of Sycamore, Ill., Gregory Frister of Geneva, Ill., Kelly Kovacic of Elburn, Ill., Cody Marks of Orland Park, Ill., Nemanja Stefanovic and Mitchel Wilson of Chicago, Ill., received a $4,000 scholarship that is awarded to students with a devotion to the business aviation industry and high levels of achievement.

CABAA is a grassroots organization formed by business aviation professionals for the purpose of offering members information, training and networking experiences to enhance the quality and quantity of business aviation operations in the Chicago area. CABAA has been supportive of future aviation business professionals through various scholarship opportunities.

Lewis University will partner with CABAA again on Oct. 4 by hosting the annual CABAA event. Students will network and discover new career opportunities while aviation professionals offer experiences and establish mentoring relationships.
