Amber Milliron of Yorkville Opens Mock Trial season at Quincy University

The Lewis University Mock Trial team opened its season in the Riverboat Classic hosted by Quincy University. A young team of first year members, headed by veteran members Natosha Burton and Ron Jovi Ramirez tied for fifth place.

Lewis lost to North Central College in the final round, matching unbeaten teams. Burton won two individual awards. She earned a perfect score for Outstanding Attorney Award in addition to winning an Outstanding Witness Award. Two other team members, Audrey Donovan and Amber Milliron each missed an award by one point.

Other Lewis University Mock Trial team members competing at the event included Cedelle Kuper-Escobedo, Brianna Diaz and Kathleen Skinner.

Amber Milliron is a freshman studying Business Administration at Lewis University.

Coaches for the Lewis Mock Trial team include Dr. Houlihan, head coach; and Lewis alumni William Rock of Block Klukas & Manzella law firm in Joliet as attorney coach, John Senese of the Peter Francis Geraci Law Offices in Chicago as lead team coach; and graduate student Brandi Sanders as witness coach. Attorney Coach Paul Namie is coaching the team this year as well.

The Lewis University Mock Trial team is hosting the Fantastic Flyer Invitational Nov. 10-11 on the Lewis University Romeoville campus. The tournament is open to the public and free of charge. Mock court cases begin at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 10 and 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov. 11. All mock trials will be held in DeLaSalle Hall or Benilde Hall. Awards will be presented at 5:30 p.m. in room 250 of DeLaSalle Hall.
